Our inspiration

Rabbi Eli Schlanger saw the good in everyone he met, and spent his life helping others see it too. Project Noah was his way of sharing the values that unite us with a wider audience.

For eighteen years he served as assistant rabbi at Chabad of Bondi, and as a chaplain in hospitals and prisons, sitting with people through some of the hardest moments of their lives. At home, he was a devoted husband and father of five.

People remember his energy, his humour and the way he welcomed everyone with open arms. Friends called him a lamplighter, someone who brought light wherever he went.

He called his initiative Project Noah, short for Nations Of All Humanity. It gave people of every faith common ground to stand on, without asking anyone to give up who they are.

His life was tragically taken, but the light he carried did not go out. It lives on in the conversations and friendships that begin in every classroom and workplace we visit.
